Commission a painting
If you really like my work, but would love a painting of your own view, then I am very happy to work to commission. I can work from photographs or visit the location depending on practicalities, to create a bespoke piece of art. I have been lucky enough to be commissioned to paint views from as far afield as the Isle of Harris, Bermuda, Hampshire, Bora Bora, the Algarve and South Africa to name a few. Commissioned paintings make fantastic presents for special birthdays and anniversaries so please do get in touch if this is of interest.
Prices range from £1,500 – 4,000 depending on size and work method selected.
Here is a step by step guide to the process:
Step 1 Preparation
Agree whether I am to visit the location or work from your photographs. Discuss source material and agree style and composition of painting. Decisions will include the size of the painting and whether it is to be on canvas or board. Once all this is agreed I will produce a sketch of the painting composition.
Step 2 Create
Work starts on the painting and I will keep you involved in the process, whether by studio visits or e-mailing you photos of the painting as it progresses. The aim is to keep you involved throughout the process so that there are no shocks along the way. By working in this way, I take feedback as the painting progresses and have never had an unhappy client.
Step 3 Framing and Delivery
Once the painting is finished I can help you choose a framing style and arrange framing for you. Framing and delivery of painting.
Here’s some of the commissions I have done
-
View of Watership Down
This painting was a very poignant commission which captured fond memories of a very special person.
“I don’t like it, I love it! I’ve loved watching the painting evolve from its commissioning to its final resting place on my wall. It gives me great pleasure to look at it whenever I go past. Thank you.”
-
The View from Glyndebourne
I loved painting this commission, particularly as it is a place near to my heart, having been an artist in residence.
“We both love it. Simple as that.”
-
Datai Bay, Malaysia
Another poignant commission to remember a much loved family member. This commission took the form of a very large panoramic diptych of the gorgeous Datai Bay in Malaysia.
-
Inkpen to Combe Gibbet
This painting was a surprise Christmas present for a client’s husband, who loves walking in this beautiful spot in the Berkshire Downs.
-
Burgh Island from Bantham
Bigbury is one of my favourite beaches, so I was delighted to be commissioned to paint it, capturing many happy summer memories.
“We are delighted with it, thank you.”
-
View of Studland Bay
This is a wonderful commission I undertook in 2021 of the view from Branksome Chine in Dorset looking towards Old Harry Rocks. I really enjoyed balancing the client’s wish for a sunny feel, yet drama in the sky.
"It looks amazing!"
-
Howgill Fells
I completed this commission of Howgill Fells near Sedburgh in Yorkshire during the Covid lockdowns of winter 2020/21.
Instead of studio visits, we worked via Zoom calls to create the finished piece. I worked from a number of different photos in order to capture the shape of the landscape and the cloudscape above.
-
Bora Bora
"It was an absolute delight to work with Jane throughout the creative process" from sending her initial photos to work from to receiving jpegs of each stage of the painting's creation. Jane was very open to incorporating slight changes and it made for a lovely visit to the UK to meet Jane and pick up our painting."
-
Manhattan Beach, California
This painting of Manhattan Beach in California was created a few year’s ago to remind a client of her favourite beach back at home.
-
Watership Down
The famous Watership Down is on my doorstep and one of my favourite places. It was therefore no hardship to undertake this large commission for a local client.
-
Luskentyre Beach
So many people have said that my work reminds them of the Hebrides, so I was delighted to be asked to undertake a commission of Luskentyre Beach on the Isle of Harris. I worked from the clients photographs and were quite emotional when they saw the finished piece.
